Solar system NEC 705.10 Plate at the utility disconnect

01System type

02Array

03Inverter

04Storage & standby

An ESS feeds the protected loads from the inverter's backup output, so the panel tees off the inverter instead of sitting in line ahead of the service panel.

05Service & interconnection

06Disconnect locations NEC 705.10 asks for these

07Wording

Component names as used in NEC 690 and 705.

08Site details engraved into the data block

Component ratings optional, shown under each symbol
Equipment names & tags match the labels on the gear

Leave blank to use the standard name. A tag is engraved as a third line under the name, so the plate matches the identifier on the physical disconnect.

The diagram is engraved from this exact geometry at full scale. The compliance notes are a build aid, not an approval, the drawing still has to be signed off by whoever is responsible for the installation, and your distributor has the final say on content.

Solar kit

Builds the single line diagram plate, then offers the rest of the placards the job needs. Both routes ask the same questions and you can switch between them at any point.

Solar kit Step 1

The plate so far

The drawing updates as you answer. Anything left blank is simply not engraved.

The rest of the label kit

Built from the answers you have already given, the array voltage, the disconnect locations, the distributor, whether there is a battery. Each plate is sized by its lettering height and the longest line on it. These are suggestions, not a compliance check. Your inspector and your distributor decide what the job actually needs; untick anything that does not apply.

How to design a lamacoid

This builder lays out engraved two-color laminate tags for electrical panels, breakers, solar systems, valves and equipment. What you see in the preview is drawn at true size, so text that will not fit is flagged before it goes to the engraver. Prices are per tag in US dollars, worked out from the billed area and the thickness you choose. You can build one tag, a solar placard kit, or a whole job from a spreadsheet.

  1. Pick what you are making. Choose a panel or name tag, a solar kit, a push button legend plate, a pipe marker, or load a spreadsheet for a whole job.
  2. Enter the text. Type each line. Put the most important line first, such as the panel name, and keep abbreviations the same as the drawings.
  3. Set the size and thickness. Pick a standard size or enter your own. Use 1/16 inch for adhesive tags and 1/8 inch for screwed, chained or large tags.
  4. Choose colors and mounting. Pick the color pair your spec or code calls for, then adhesive backing or mounting holes.
  5. Check the preview and price. Review every tag at true size and the USD price per line, then save the job or request a quote.

Not sure what a panel or placard needs to say? See the guides for electrical panel labels, arc flash labels and valve tags and pipe markers, or check pricing.
